Tourist Travel Guide to Holidays in Tuscany

Skiing in Tuscany

Tuscan mountains are a collection of emotions: from the Apuan Alps, appearing as marble cathedrals, to the kingdom of caves and castles of Lunigiana and from the dazzling white of the quarries to the wild green valley of Garfagnana.

If you feel the call of spirituality, there are the forests of the Casentino with monasteries and hermitages. But if you love woods, Mugello, an aristocratic and timeless land, will captivate you. Mount Amiata will charm you with its deer, red deer and fallow deer.

And in winter Abetone offers skiing for enthusiasts. In winter the slopes of Tuscany are a great ski gym: the ideal place to learn. Who can handle the slopes in Tuscany will not find it difficult to meet the most northern ones, and winter sports enthusiasts can also find trails to suit all tastes: alpine skiing, Nordic skiing, slopes for disabled, snow-park for snowboarders, sledding and snow-tubing.

The offer is wide and attractive: the famous ski area of Abetone, Mount Amiata, Zum Zeri and the Garfagnana.

Here is some information for those wishing to go skiing in Tuscany this year: Pistoia Mountains: the 2009/2010 ski season has started from Saturday, December 5th with the first partial opening of the ski Abetone and Doganaccia.

Monte Amiata: The official ski season on Mount Amiata is scheduled from 20/12/2009 to 14/03/2010.
